3 Killer Ways to become a Personal Trainer

Thinking about becoming a Personal Trainer as your next career move?  Then these 3 killer ways to gaining your all-important REPs level 3 personal trainer qualification are written with you in mind.  They provide need to know information enabling you to choose the perfect course for your fitness industry education based on your starting point and the type of clients you want to work with.

1 – Combined Personal Trainer Course

Perfect for;

  • Those who are starting out in their fitness career
  • People who need to attain Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications

If you’re starting out then you’ll need a Level 2 Fitness Instructor and Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification.

Level 2 offers essential grounding in fitness where you will delve into what makes the body function, looking at human anatomy and physiology alongside the principles of exercise, fitness and health.  You’ll then learn about motivating and supporting clients with their physical activity and the art of designing and instructing gym-based exercise.

Once you’ve achieved your Fitness instructor qualification you’ll be able to join REPs and start to practice as a Level 2 gym instructor whilst you continue with the second part of your combined course, studying your Personal Trainer Certificate.

By the end of your combined course you will have also gained the Personal Trainer Certificate and can join REPs at Level 3 and obtain your personal trainer insurance so you are able to work with clients.

2 – Personal Trainer Certificate Course

Perfect for;

  • Those who are already qualified as a Level 2 Fitness Instructor or equivalent
  • People seeking to offer Personal Training to a broad mix of clients

With your Level 2 already complete you’re ready to start your Personal Trainer course.  The Certificate route is perfectly suited to those looking to work in a gym or freelance basis assisting and motivating different types of clients in achieving their fitness goals.

You will study 7 modules learning how to design, programme and deliver personal training for different types of clients.  You will also learn how to apply the principles of nutrition to your personal training programmes, a much needed skill to support those with obesity and weight loss exercise related goals.

Once qualified you will be awarded the Certificate in Personal Training and can join REPs at Level 3.  You’ll then simply need to obtain your Personal Trainer insurance and will be ready to start your new PT career.

 3 – Personal Trainer Diploma Course (NVQ)

Perfect for;

  • Those who are already qualified as a Level 2 Gym Instructor or equivalent
  • People seeking to offer an advanced Personal Trainer service

If you’re able to commit a bit more time to your studies and are keen to gain an advanced Personal Trainer qualification then our diploma is the perfect choice.  Our NVQ qualification contains practical work based learning every step of the way and works well if you’re already working in a gym or have access to relevant work experience.

You will study 9 modules learning how to create and coach highly effective bespoke training for your clients. You will also learn how to apply state of the art assessment techniques to help specialist groups such as those with postural deviations and corrective exercise needs. In addition, you will look at personal training for specialist and sports specific clients together with the importance of correct nutrition.

Once qualified you will be awarded the Diploma in Personal Training and can join REPs at Level 3.  You can then gain your Personal Trainer insurance and you’ll be ready to start working with your new clients.
