5 Favourite Personal Trainer Jobs
May 7, 2015Anita Lemon

If you’re keen on becoming a personal trainer then congratulations! An exciting career awaits that can take you in numerous directions. Whether it’s helping people tackle the obesity epidemic, training the next generation of up and coming athletes, working as a kid’s instructor or supporting specialist groups, personal trainer jobs offer variety and something for everyone.

Many of our students choose to study our personal trainer courses for other reasons too. Some have got the travel bug and are excited and enthused by the potential to travel to capital cities far beyond London. In other cases personal training offers a change of career direction perhaps combined with a relocation. Some of our students are starting out in work and keen to use their sports knowledge to help others and earn a good wage at the same time.

What we love about personal training as a career is that it offers so much choice. Many employers are looking for you to have a level 3 personal trainer course but once you’ve achieved this you can choose from a whole host of career options, employers and locations.

1 –Self-employed Personal Trainer

A chance to be your own boss, run you own business and with unlimited earnings potential. If you’re prepared to invest your time and skill building your client base from scratch then for many this is the ultimate career option.

2 – Gym based Personal Trainer

The gym based route into personal training offers both a stepping stone and stability. If you’re just starting out or seeking to develop your skills and talent before making the next career move, then the gym has plenty to offer with job vacancies to choose from in both large corporate gym chains and smaller localised establishments.

3 – Physical Training Instructor

Ever thought about personal training outside of the gym environment? Physical Training Instructors work in military and police roles developing, coaching and assessing the fitness of key personnel. This is about supporting colleagues not only with getting in shape but staying there and taking it to the next level.

4 – Cruise Ship Personal Trainer

Typically cruise ship roles are contracts lasting for the duration of the season and they are accompanied by long hours. With guests who have all that leisure time to while away you’ll have a ready supply of potential clients and at the same time get to travel to new and often exotic locations along the way.

5 – Hotel based Personal Trainer

From holiday parks to 5 start establishments there’s a huge range of options if you fancy working as a personal trainer somewhere that’s just a little different. Hotel based roles typically combine short term client bookings from guests staying in the hotel with regular client bookings from non-residents who are members of the hotel leisure centre and live in the locality. Often these positions combine some traditional fitness instructor duties such as overseeing the hotel gym and pool areas.
