A fitness career has a lot to offer. A chance to earn a decent wage, help others and build your own business along the way. If fitness is practically your middle name then check out these signs which could mean it’s time for a career rethink.
1 – The gym’s a home from home
Do you feel as comfortable in the gym as you do in your own home? Is working out engrained in your DNA? Do you know where all the kit is in the gym and what it’s for? Or maybe you’re in the know and the first in line to test out a new piece of equipment, or fitness concept or exercise class.
All of the above are sure fire signals that you’d make a fantastic level 2 Fitness Instructor and it would be the perfect career match.
2 – You are a people person
Do you like meeting new people? Have you a natural desire to help others? Perhaps you’re already sought out on the gym floor by fellow members looking for some friendly fitness advice and motivation? Are you comfortable helping others from different backgrounds with varying fitness and lifestyle goals?
If you’d rather be up and active helping others rather than behind the scenes perhaps it’s time to get your fitness instructor training underway?
3 – You are health curious
Are you always checking out the latest developments in health? Perhaps you subscribe to fitness industry magazines and are always checking out the latest blog posts? Fitness is a fast paced industry and there’s always plenty of developments as new ideas and concepts come and go.
If you’re naturally curious about improving human health, diet and function you’re just the kind of future ambassador the industry and your future clients need!
4 – You love to share
Remember those days in the school exam hall where everyone was lined up in rows – no peeking allowed? Well the journey to becoming a Fitness Instructor with us is quite the opposite. In fact, here at the Academy of Fitness Professionals we don’t even believe in exams.
Fitness is a hands on job that involves sharing your knowledge and talents with clients, colleagues and other professionals to help improve individual health. So right from the start of your fitness instructor course the more questions you have or ideas you’re keen to share the better.
5 – You are driven
Like with any career you get out what you’re prepared to put in. Can you see yourself researching client needs behind the scenes? Are you keen to advance further, perhaps by becoming a Personal Trainer or Fitness Manager?
Bring the right mind set and a desire to take ownership of your own career path and watch it take off.
6 – You’re a bit of a lark or an owl (or both!)
Do you love early mornings? Maybe you prefer late nights? Perhaps you don’t mind either way? Whatever the speed of your clock you’ll need to fit in with client schedules and gym rotas. If you love the idea of a flexible work pattern with time to devote to your own training along the way there are many varied fitness jobs with a lot to offer.
The Academy of Fitness Professionals provide the gold standard in accredited personal training courses with state of the art training fully endorsed by REPs, Skills Active and the NCFE. Their specialist knowledge features in the UK health and fitness media including the Mirror, BBC2 and Women’s Running. This is the ultimate learning destination for those serious about their fitness industry education and long term career as a Personal Trainer.
