A Handy Guide to Choosing your Level 3 Personal Trainer Course
November 19, 2015Anita Lemon

A Handy Guide to Choosing your Level 3 Personal Trainer Course

One of the things our team frequently support our learners with is whether to choose the personal trainer certificate or personal training diploma.

The great news is that both the Certificate and Diploma course options enable you to work as a Personal Trainer, obtain the relevant insurance and join REPs at level 3.

Which course should you choose?

Selecting the personal trainer certification means that upon successful completion you will be awarded the Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training.  At Diploma level you will be awarded the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Personal Training.

The Diploma is a more advanced, in-depth course.  As an NVQ qualification you will need access to the workplace to practically evidence your learning and lots of help is on hand from your personal tutor who will also arrange to visit you.  The Diploma covers nine modules whereas the Certificate contains seven.

Module content within both courses is broadly similar covering client support, coaching and motivation, health and safety, anatomy and physiology for exercise, and the design, prescription and application aspects of personal training together with nutrition.

The Diploma however, digs deeper into the related subject matter and skills based learning.

What are the additional modules I’ll study if I choose the Diploma route?

 The additional two modules studied at Diploma level are;

1 – Reflect on and develop own practice in providing exercise and physical activity.

2 – Evaluate exercise and physical activity programmes.

Why do you offer two levels of Personal Trainer qualifications?

We offer both learning routes to provide our learners with choice.

Generally speaking if you’d like to qualify in a shorter time, don’t have access to a gym-based workplace, or have a more limited budget the PT Certificate is a great choice.

However, if you have more time to devote to your learning and have access a gym-based workplace then the PT Diploma package is a good fit.

For guidance selecting the perfect course for you simply contact us and a member of our friendly team will be pleased to help.
