Key Skills and Learning
You will develop the skills and knowledge required to plan and prepare an exercise related programme with apparently healthy children for both individuals and groups. Your learning will consider children aged from 5-15 and incorporates key safety guidelines for this niche group to fully complement your fitness industry training.
You will build your knowledge of the child screening process and explore alternative ways to collect key information that is the foundation for effective programme design. You will also learn how to work with the parent or guardian maintaining open communication about your sessions as well as the necessary informed consent. With all this information and well considered programme design it should be plain sailing but some kids needs can be more complex. With this mind your course also looks at the reasons for the temporary deferral of exercise in children and when to involve and refer to other professionals. By the end of your course you’ll be selecting appropriate exercises for the children you are working with and guiding them expertly through their programmes.
