Our Online Exercise to Music Course
Here at the Academy of Fitness Professionals we’re thrilled to announce the launch of our new Level 2 Exercise to Music Course. This fully endorsed training offers an additional gateway into a fitness career for those seeking entry level and advancing qualifications. In this feature we catch up with Anita Lemon, one of our Directors who has championed this exciting addition to our training course portfolio.
Why introduce an exercise to music course?
Our team at the Academy have designed this new course in response to rising customer demand. Exercise to music is a popular qualification for those seeking a career in fitness and working in partnership with our awarding body, Focus Awards.
The qualification will equip course graduates with the know-how, confidence and talent to develop and instruct effective exercise to music classes that cater for the needs of their clientele. This industry recognised level 2 accredited course is also typically required as a pre requisite for those seeking to progress to specialist class instruction, such as dance club fitness, Les MILLS, Pilates and yoga.
What’s more the addition of this course offers even greater choice for level 2 and level 3 graduates who are seeking continuous development.
Are there any specific course requirements?
There are no specific prerequisites for this course, however due to the nature of the subject matter it is helpful to have some experiences of participating in a few different types of exercise to music classes.
There are two pathways to achieving this fitness qualification. If you are starting out in your fitness career and are yet to become a qualified Fitness Professional you can complete the full fitness course. Alternatively if you already hold a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing, Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training, or equivalent, you can upskill by completing the specialist aspects of the course.

How is the course structured?

What’s more you’ll be working at a level that meets the standards endorsed by the fitness industry through this nationally recognised fitness qualification.
The great thing about this qualification is that it enables our graduates to establish exercise based classes that appeal to a broad base of clientele. This ranges from beginners through to advanced fitness levels appealing to a wide demographic.
Before you run your very first class however there are a few points of housekeeping that it’s highly advisable to action. If you are running exercise to music classes in a gym remind your employer that they may need to update their insurance and relevant internal processes or policies. If you are working freelance it makes sense to check you have valid insurance for the fitness class sessions you’re planning to run.
Are there opportunities to progress further beyond my ETM qualification?
Absolutely. Exercise to music is big business and once your level 2 fitness course is complete this opens many doors to progress learning specialist choreographed courses. Alternatively, you may wish to move up the career ladder by becoming a Studio Coordinator or Studio Manager.
