Become an Exercise to Music Instructor
This Ofqual regulated Exercise to Music instructor course will teach you the knowledge and practical skills so that you are ready to run your own group based exercise classes.
You will be able to teach and supervise exercise to music classes for healthy adults and young people within the 14-16 age range.
Once complete you will be a fully qualified Exercise to Music Instructor and a recognised level 2 Fitness Professional. This demonstrates the high standard of your qualification to clients.
You will be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Instructing Exercise to Music, which is embossed with the Ofqual and NCFE awarding body logos. From here you are ready to run your own classes or gain employment within a gym.
Here, Exercise to Music Instructor, Fitness and Weight Management Instructor, Freelance Class Instructor, Group Coach and/or Studio Co-ordinator jobs are popular roles.

Let's Get Started
Course Delivery
This exercise to music level 2 distance learning course is delivered by online learning via our student portal.
You study your course materials and then complete a workbook for each theory module. This contains short answer questions and case studies. When complete this is submitted to your tutor for assessment.
After you have finished the theory part you move onto the course practical.
This gives you the opportunity to put your course theory into practice instructing a mini exercise to music class.
You follow our step by step guidelines for this and record evidence of yourself teaching your own level 2 exercise to music class with a group of four participants.
As this course is fully REPs and CIMSPA recognised you will also need to attend twenty hours of classes in your local area run by a qualified exercise to music instructor. This develops your experience and skills ready for running your own classes. This is an industry requirement and you can arrange this at times that work best for you.
This course comes with full tutor support. Sometimes it’s helpful to ask a question, check you’re on the right lines or just have a quick chat. Rest assured your friendly Academy of Fitness Professionals course tutor is there to lend a hand. There are no exams involved in gaining this certification.
Once everything is complete you will receive your exercise to music certificate in the post, so you’ll always have a hard copy to hand. This is embossed with the Ofqual and NFCE accreditations.
You will also be awarded a credit and unit summary certification detailing all the modules you have achieved.

Instructing Exercise to Music Classes – Getting Started
Group exercise instructors teach fun and engaging classes to help participants get active and improve their fitness levels in a social setting. Most gyms offer a wide range of daily classes tailored to different ability levels and areas of interest. You’d run classes for agreed days and times as part of the gyms group exercise schedule. Or, you could set up your own classes from a village hall, school facility or similar venue.
You’ll be responsible for running safe, enjoyable and effective exercise to music classes that participants want to attend on a regular basis. As your classes fill up there’s also the opportunity to expand and appeal to different customer groups. If this is the career for you, here’s some of the responsibilities that go with the role.
