Step 1 – Get Ready

Before commencing your Level 3 Personal Trainer course you’ll need to hold a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing or similar fitness qualification. Here you will gain fundamental practical skills and knowledge giving a solid grounding so you are ready to advance to Level 3.  It’s worth investing the time here as many of the topics covered, for example, planning gym based exercise, provide a natural stepping stone for later on when you design client specific personal training plans at Level 3. Expect to spend at least 6 weeks completing your Level 2.

Haven’t got a Level 2 qualification? Don’t worry, our special bundle contains your Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications wrapped up together at a great price.

Step 2 – Choose your study route

There are 2 options to choose from at Level 3 – the Certificate or Diploma qualifications.

Whilst both courses provide everything you need, if you’re seeking the quickest or most cost effective choice, you’ll be most suited to the Certificate in Personal Training. If you’re looking for a little more specialist knowledge and your budget enables you to invest a little bit more in your professional training, its well worth considering the Diploma in Personal Training.

Step 3 – Qualify as a Level 3 Personal Trainer

During your course you will learn both the theory and practical sides of personal training, studying by blended learning. You’ll work alongside your personal tutor on the theory and then attend your practical workshops in London or Watford, Hertfordshire. These bring the theory to life and teach the client facing side of personal training, look at exercise prescription and technique and much more. By the end of your course you’ll have completed a mini personal training session with one of our friendly team members as well as having compiled your very own portfolio.

Step 4 – Open for business

Once your Level 3 personal training qualification arrives you’re almost ready to open for business. If you’re working freelance we’d suggest you give yourself sufficient time to join REPs, arrange public liability cover and gain a first aid certificate. That’s it you’re now ready to welcome your first client.

Step 5 – Advance your career

But it doesn’t stop there. Here at the Academy of Fitness Professionals we recognise that with your exciting new career just underway it’s inevitable that questions will crop up. At this point you may well appreciate a helping hand and some valuable advice on the business side of things. For these very reasons we invite all our personal trainer graduates to our business skills workshop where you’ll learn tried and tested techniques to advance your personal training business in the fast-lane.
