Why I Decided to Become a Personal Trainer

We’re delighted to introduce you to Ilona who graduated as a Personal Trainer with our team here at the Academy of Fitness Professionals. Ilona has a keen interest and passion for fitness and is looking forward to using her personal success and accomplishments to springboard a new career as a Personal Trainer where she can inspire, support and help others.

How did you decide which Personal Trainer qualification was the best one?

I chose the Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification and the Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training because they will enable me to work as a Personal Trainer. After a decade of being passionate about fitness and dreaming about turning this interest into my career it was time to finally take the plunge and I am so happy that I did.

I was offered lots of helpful advice and decided on the Certificate course package because it combines both the Level 2 and Level 3 courses. As I am keen to work with and personal train a wide range of clients this was the right level of fitness industry training for me.

Why did you choose to qualify with the Academy of Fitness Professionals?

I chose the Academy of Fitness Professionals on personal recommendation from a friend who couldn’t praise them enough. The learning approach suits me really well as I can study in between work, social commitments and my fitness sessions. I especially like the fact that I am supported all the time by a personal tutor who is an advanced Personal Trainer and whenever I need a hand he’s always willing to help.

What do you plan to do career wise post qualification?

Once I have obtained my Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training I plan to become a Personal Trainer. I can’t wait to be able to help people achieve their goals and help them with weight loss, improved image, fitness levels and overall holistic health.

How do you go about studying your Personal Trainer course?

The fitness courses are provided by blended learning. For me this is the best way to study so that I can fit it around my current responsibilities. Because the course is so interesting it often doesn’t feel like study – this is what I would be reading about anyway. So it’s just marvelous that all the work is going towards a fitness qualification I can use!

How do you allocate time for your study?

Most of the time I study for about 30-60 minutes a day. I allocate more time at weekends when I can really get stuck in and I’m making good progress. I found once I was into the routine it was pretty easy to fit the time in especially as I’m so determined to make personal training my future career.

Do you get much help from your course tutor?

The tutors are always really quick to respond to any queries. Because the course is a mixture of at home study before the practical workshops it’s sometimes good to check in just to make sure that you are on the right track. Whenever I’ve had a query or asked for some help they are always really reassuring and helpful.

Would you recommend the Academy of Fitness Professionals to others?

I would definitely recommend them. If you’re thinking about it, or perhaps pondering about starting a new career like I was, just do it! Its great fun and such a valuable course.
