If you’re seeking a career in fitness then choosing the right type and level of fitness industry education will help ensure you’re all set.
How to choose your fitness qualification
It’s essential to get the basics right by making sure your qualification is endorsed by REPs and Skills Active. These indicate robust standards are met in the delivery of course material and training content. Next, be on the lookout for independent accreditations, like ours from the NCFE. This is a further sign of quality assurance and is acquired through regular checks on the standard of our courses and how we support learners through all stages of their fitness industry education.
Did you know there are different levels of training? Here’s the low down on what they mean and the typical career path they provide for our graduates.
Level 1 Fitness Courses
These include awards in Exercise Studies and Nutrition and Health. They are entry level fitness industry qualifications offering great value. They are the perfect start point if you are keen to explore a genuine interest or passion you have for fitness, diet and health before deciding on your ultimate career path.
Level 2 Fitness Instructors Course
At level 2 learners typically have aspirations to become a fitness instructor or become a personal trainer. One size doesn’t fit all here so it’s important to get the right advice to ensure your qualification is correctly matched to the ultimate job you have in mind. For example, if you’re keen to supervise others in the gym team then the fitness instructor diploma is an ideal course. However, if you’d like to work with children and young adults then the kid’s fitness instructor course provides a specialist route.
Level 3 Personal Trainer Course
If your plan is to become a personal trainer you will need a level 2 fitness instructor qualification before you can move onto the level 3 personal trainer course. A great option here is our course package which combines your level 2 and level 3 courses providing everything you need for a great price.
Our level 3 personal trainer course enables learners to go on and work within gyms and leisure centres on an employed and freelance basis. Choose between the personal trainer certificate and the more advanced personal training diploma.
Your Fitness Career Awaits
Once your fitness industry training is complete you’re ready to start your new career. You’ll receive your certificates confirming you’ve passed your course/s and will then be able to register with REPS and obtain relevant personal trainer insurance.
